Seen here is the 2015, yes that’s correct, the 2015 Mercedes Benz C Class saloon suggesting the shape of future vehicles to come from the Stuttgart based manufacturer. First sighted on the Mercedes passion blog, the brochure contains further details on the upcoming C Class sedan for 2015 that will officially premiere in 2014 at the NAIAS 2014 (Detroit Auto show) in the coming month.
2015 Mercedes C Class
The upcoming model is expected to be made available with 3 engine options- the Diesel C 220 Bluetec, C 180 & the C200. One of the highlights of the next C-Class is significant weight reduction, with Benz stating that the new aluminum hybrid body along with other measures has shaved around 100 kilograms from the overall weight making for a much leaner, stiffer package.

There’s also a new four-link front and five-link rear suspension with aluminum components on offer, and an optional Airmatic air suspension (a C-Class first) with the car gaining all of the available passive and active safety technology introduced on the S-Class and E-Class.

The cabin in the redesigned C-Class also gets a touchpad inspired by smartphones and tablets. The automaker said all critical functions can be “easily operated using finger gestures.” The driver and the front passenger can access the touchpad to control all the functions in the central infotainment control panel.
2015 Mercedes C Class brochure AIRMATIC
We expect the big C 220 Diesel to sport the 170 Bhp 2,143 cc 4 cylinder unit churning out 400 Nm of torque between 1,400-2,800 rpm with peak power being developed between 3,000-4,000 rpm. Mated to this will be either a 6 speed manual or 7 speed dual clutch auto transmission.
The Petrol burner is a 1,991 cc 4 cylinder putting out different outputs based on what model it is used on. On the C 180 the unit puts out peak power of 156 Bhp at 5,300 rpm and 250 Nm of torque between 1,200-4,000 rpm. On the C 200 we see the same engine upping the power figures with peak power of 184 Bhp at 5,500 rpm & 300 Nm of torque between 1,200-4,000 rpm. Yummy!!

Variants & Extras:
The 2015 C Class will be made available in 4 specific variant lines, each with its own level of trim and configurations. Customers can choose from Standard, Avantgarde, Exclusive & AMG variants. The base standard model is quite easy to distinguish from the others since it comes equipped with steel wheels as against 16 inch alloys on the other variants. It also compromises on other features like dual zone air conditioning and rain sensing wipers etc. making do with an ordinary single zone air conditioning system.
