Ford seems to firing on all cylinders these days. After the tremendous success of the Figo and recently, the Ecosport Ford is cashing in on the brand image being at its highest ever since the company started selling cars in India. 2014 Ford Figo unveiled at the Auto Expo last week and has immediately launched it in the worlds largest small car market, India.
Ford has added a Paprika Red color to the range of quirky colors the Figo already sports. A new alloy wheel design looks much better suited to the car. These are the only exterior changes on the car.
The Figo now comes with a WiFi dongle which is to be inserted in the USB slot to make the car a WiFi hotspot. The system can connect upto 5 users at a time. The user has to insert his/her own sim card into the dongle to avail of this facility. This feature along with color co-ordinated seat covers and LED interior lighting comes as a “Special Pack” for INR 9,790 (ex Delhi).
Ford has also added features like electric RVms and driver side airbag on the Figo ZXi. The base variant will now have the following features as standard:4-speakers, Bluetooth, USB port, Aux connectivity with a 2 – DIN audio system with CD,MP3 and FM.
The other horse from the Ford stable, Ecosport has also been raking in huge numbers for the American car maker. To entice more buyers Ford has started offering a sunroof with the car now.
It was first spotted at the Auto Expo in Delhi last week and now the company claims that the car, with sunroof will reach Ford showroom in the next couple of months. The sunroof will only be available with the top-of-the-line Ecoboost variant and will have additional demarkations like black alloys with 17 -inch wheels.
Ford will charge upwards of INR 40,000 for this upgrade on the Ecosport but knows that even this will not wean of the public from pouring in to their showrooms. The waiting period for the Ecosport recently went as high as a year and Ford is struggling just to keep with the demand.
Along with the Ecosport and the 2014 Figo, Ford also showcased the sub-four meter Figo sedan concept.
