Honda unveiled 2014 Jazz (Fit) in India at AutoExpo. Earlier the car was launched in 2009 where it grabbed a lot of eyeballs due to its sporty looks and luxurious interiors but couldn’t leave a mark on the market. Experts blame absence of diesel engine and high cost of car for this. But it seems this time Honda is up with proper homework and improvement on almost every aspect. The company plans to start production of new generation Jazz/ Fit at Tapukara faciliy in Rajsthan by month of June 2014. Honda Cars India began production at its second manufacturing facility yesterday.
The new Jazz looks more promising with improved looks and attractive graphics. The company says-The all-new model builds on the Jazz’s innovative packaging, flexible cargo capability and fun-to-drive character with spirited new styling and a more spacious and refined interior. It has new grille, chiseled bumpers, improved aerodynamics and better ride and handling. The car boasts of the best legroom and boot space (390 liters) in class. The length is close to 3.96m, slightly more than its earlier sibling (roughly 60mm).
This car is powered by i-VTEC Brio petrol and i-DTECH City diesel engines. Petrol engine develops 88 PS and 109 Nm of torque whereas diesel engine outputs 100 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Earlier we have seen an overwhelming response for Amaze and City, so same will be expected for new Jazz. Plus this engine is fuel efficient too, so mileage won’t be an issue either for the vehicle. Car may come with both 5/6-speed manual as well as a 4-speed automatic transmission model. So, this will surely make new Jazz a perfectly balanced vehicle.
Jazz can be seen on roads by the end of 2014. This car will be in competition against other B+ segment cars like Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai i20. Speculated/Expected price of the car is nearly 5 lakhs for petrol variant and 6.5 lakhs for diesel variant (ex-showroom Delhi, Base models). But one thing is for sure that if priced well, this car can surely do some more wonders to Honda like Amaze and Honda City.
