11th generation Toyota Corolla Altis has been launched in India by TKM (Toyota Kirloskar Motor). 2014 Toyota Corolla Altis will be available in both petrol and diesel engine versions. The vehicle was first showcased in the Auto Expo 2014 which was scheduled in the month of February. Toyota had gained a lot of demand from the Indian market with the launch of their Fiesta model in 2003.
The basic price of the new Corolla Altis is 11.99 lakh for the petrol variant and 13.07 lakh (ex-Delhi) for the diesel. The car has completely new aesthetic look, new LED headlamps and LED tail lamps, new radiator grille, R16 alloy wheels and rear chrome garnishing. The vehicle height has been reduced by 5mm giving the car better aerodynamics and stability while driving. Company offers a package called ‘The benchmark’ which adds more chrome to the ride and day time running lamps.
Interiors will have a 3-spoked leather steering wheel with Bluetooth control on feature on it. Cyber carbon Piano black instrument panel, new instrument cluster and illuminated door sills and cup holders are eye-catching. Larger wheel base (increased by 100mm), rain sensors, navigation, rear reading lamp, rear sunshade, rear power socket, steering wheel angle has been changed from 24 degree to 22 degree and reclining seats adds to the total comfort of the car.
The safety features include rear camera, brake assist with ABS and EBS, rear fog lamp on the right hand side and dual airbags. The petrol and diesel engines used in the new Corolla Altis will be from the current line-up. The petrol variant will get a 1.8 litre dual VVTi engine giving 140PS of power and 173Nm of torque with a 7-speed CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission whereas the diesel variant would get its power from a 1.4 litre turbo charged engine giving 88.4PS and will me mated with a 6-speed manual transmission. Altis will be available in many variants for both petrol and diesel.
