Audi is preparing for the launch of the new Audi A4 saloon, which is due to go on sale next year. While BMW updated its sedan range with the introduction of the new F30 3 series and Mercedes is readying the next generation C-Class for a 2014 launch along with the forthcoming Jaguar XE, Audi is preparing for the battle. Audi is expected to launch new 2015 A4 next year. New Audi A4 to fight back against ever-improving rivals from BMW and Mercedes. It is expected to see the bold new design for every model in the new A4 range including Audi S4.
The new range will be based on MLB platform, main focus is given on lightness and will shed up to 100kg weight which will be an aid for handling and fuel efficiency. The new car will be more economical than previous A4. The car will feature Audi’s new metal-framed grille, with polished metal rungs, as seen in the Audi Crossover concept. Its front end is thought to closely resemble the new A4. The latest advances in technology Audi will reduce the size of headlights, but it is still unclear that car will come with more expensive laser lights or not. Aluminium is likely to be used, while carbon fiber will be used for high end models, the same material used to construct Formula 1 cars.
To compete with Mercedes, Audi will definitely re-frame its interior, New TT’s interior will be the most striking feature of the new range, which is a digital display where normally customer finds conventional dials. It will perform dual roles such as while engaging reverse gear it will automatically flip to rear view camera. The new range will also allow customers to customize air conditioning settings.
The top priority of the company will be lower the cost of running. Engine options shall remain the same, but hybrid powertrains will be included. While the S4 will get an updated version of its current V6 engine, the RS4 could, as the report suggests, get a turbocharged V6 in place of its 4.2-litre V8. The new range will feature range of 1.4, 1.8 and 2.0 liter petrol engines which could use Audi’s cylinder deactivation technology.Audi is also developing a whole new range of engines that would cut down the noise and vibrations produced in the engine with no negative effect on fuel economy. The other hybrid is a more potent e-quattro system, with a petrol engine up front and two powerful electric motors on the rear axle, giving a different take on Audi’s trademark quattro 4WD.
Audi A4 saloon is just a start in the new range of A4, A4 Avant, plus an A5 Coupe, Cabriolet and Sportback, using the same engines will follow the same footprints between 2014 and 2016. India is an important market for German car makers, since it is expected to be available with its international launch.
