Japanese car maker Nissan on Friday announced the start of pre-bookings of its new upcoming car Datsun Go+ in India. Its a complete family wagon for which prospective customers can pre-book with the fully refundable amount of Rs. 11,000 between January 3-14 at Nissan dealership across India. The Datsun Go+ was first previewed at 2014 Delhi Auto Expo last year. Making the announcement, Guillaume Sicard, President, Nissan India Operations, said, “We are happy to offer our latest product Datsun GO+, a segment-creating Compact MPV to customers in India.” Datsun Go+ will be named as India’s first family wagon and will also come with CNG variant. The CNG variant will make Go+ fuel economical yet spacious wagon.
Terming the product as a “segment-creating compact MPV”, he said, “The Datsun Go+ is our second product in the market after the Datsun GO and reiterates our commitment to India.” Including India company is also operating in Indonesia, Russia and South Africa from 2014.
The Datsun Go+ is India’s first sub-4 meter compact multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and it is expected to pack more boot space that Datsun Go hatchback.The vehicle has an extended body version (5+2 seats) of the Datsun Go hatchback, it will offer extended roof, body and floor, even two seats have been dropped on the floor of resulting larger boot. Datsun Go+ is 3995mm in length, a width of 1635mm and 1490mm in height with a wheelbase of 2450 mm while its ground clearance is 170 mm.Under the hood Datsun Go+ is powered by the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine which powers the Go hatchback generating a maximum power of 67 bhp and a maximum torque of 104 Nm. According to the company it gives fuel-efficiency of 20.6 kmpl.
It is expected to compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Honda Mobilio and General Motors Enjoy with a price tag of Rs. 4.5 lakh. In March last year, the company launched Datsun Go, after its miserable crash test results it will interesting to see how customers will respond to this car. Definitely company will be expecting a lot from this and will try to recover with Go model, only the time will tell what is waiting for us.
