Coming to India after a long time since it was revealed, the 2015 Mercedes Benz C Class will be launched on the 25th of this month.
The W205 C Class uses Mercedes’ MRA Platform which increases the use of aluminium in the body, which has reduced the weight of this car by nearly 100 kgs. The car will have two models, the C200 and the C220 CDI. However only the petrol version will be available since launch as the diesel will join the family later. The C200 produces 184 bhp and 300 Nm of torque. The Diesel mill will generate 168 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. The cars will share the 7-speed Dual clutch auto transmission.
On the looks department, it has a few minor changes, nothing exceptional. The car is now longer by 95 mm, and wider by 40 mm which results in 80 mm rise in the wheelbase, which has freed a lot of space inside. On the inside it borrows heavily from its eldest sibling, the S Class.
The 2015 Mercedes Benz C Class will be assembled at the MB plant in Pune with prices hovering around the 30-35 lakh range. The present C Class has faced stiff competition from fellow Germans, Audi’s A4 and BMW’s 3-Series.
