BMW Launches 5 series in Petrol variant, Diesel BAN effect?

Petrolheads can finally Rejoice! Now that the NGT has banned sales of diesel vehicles in cities like New Delhi, Kerala etc., The new BMW 520i has been introduced in an exclusive ‘Luxury Line’ design scheme that embodies the ultimate in elegance and aesthetics.

The all India ex-showroom price for petrol variant is as follows –

BMW 520i Luxury Line               :           INR 54,00,000

There are minimal changes to the car’s configuration. For example, The paint works which are being offered are limited to three shades ;  Alpine White in a non-metallic paint job. Black Sapphire and Imperial Blue Brilliant Effect are the metallic paint-jobs which are available. The standard grade of Dakota leather upholstery is available in Leather Dakota Cinnamon Brown, Black, Leather Dakota Veneto Beige exclusive stitching, Veneto Black / Beige, Leather Dakota Oyster exclusive stitching in Black. The Interior trim for the 520 i offered is in Fine-wood trim Fine-line Anthracite with highlight trim finisher in Chrome Pearl Grey. The petrol version here is distinguished by the ‘520 i’ badging on the boot.

The motor in the 5 series comes with the revolutionary ‘Twin-Power Turbo four-cylinder’ petrol 2.0l engine which tosses out 184 bhp and 270nm of torque. The engine has been designed in such a way that it offers more efficiency and also reducing the emission levels and also offering better performance in turn. The acceleration times are at a remarkable 7.9 seconds when sprinting from 0-100 km/hr flatout. Top speed although is limited to 233 km/hr. 

Coming to the Transmission, The petrol motor is mated to a 8 speed Step-tronic automatic transmission which allows for butter smooth, almost indiscernible gear shifting. At any point of time, the transmission allies perfectly with the engine which enables it to churn out performance to it’s fullest potential.

The car also comes with BMW Efficient Dynamics ; BMW’s strategy at reducing CO2 emissions and minimising the fuel being consumed. The BMW 520i is equipped in such a way that it improves the driving dynamics since this is a driver oriented car.
