Mahindra’s first ever attempt at a compact SUV goes by the code name 2016 Mahindra S101 SUV. This car has been spied many times. However, thanks to the folks at motortrend we have got a glimpse of the interior of the car. This is more of a hatchback than an SUV, which has been inspired by the TUV 3OO which will be launched on September 10. The car is based on an all-new monocoque platform newly developed by M&M and will be launched later this year to compete primarily against the Ford Ecosport.
The interiors are dual tone with black/beige combination which is pretty much available on all cars nowadays. The centre console looks premium with an infotainment system which looks to be a 6 inch screen. The console also has a silver outline which gives it a distinct look. The steering wheel also has the same silver colored plastic breaking the monotony. The gear lever which is mounted in the middle of the console to create legroom for the front, middle occupant. Yes, the front row will seat 3 people similar to the Datsun GO.
The second row could seat three people, but if we go with the images, legs will be jostling for space. Other visible features include steering controls, electrically foldable mirrors, a touchscreen equipped infotainment system, an AMT gearbox and 185/65 R15 tires. The the tall setup of the car will make ingress and egress easy. The launch details have not been confirmed as of now. We expect the car will hit the Indian market by the first quarter of 2016.
