The Mercedes Benz ML Coupe (MLC) has been spied, albeit with full camouflage, testing. The MLC caught testing was tuned by AMG, Merecdes’ tuning arm.
Mercedes plans to rival the BMW X6 with the MLC but as BMW upped the ante with the X6 M, Mercedes naturally had to handover the MLC to AMG. MLC 63 AMG will have the same engine as the ML 63: 5.5 litre V8 twin-turbo capable of producing 550 PS of power and a massive 699 Nm of torque.
Mercedes has not yet confirmed the name of the SUV as ML Coupe but since it is too early for the it, we will just go with the MLC moniker.
The test car has a single bar grille and a massive air intake at the front and side skirts as well. The car also has bigger alloys, a stiff suspension along with quad exhaust pipes and all other things AMG thinks are necessary for the car to go faster. The steeply raked roofline is the main coupé like element and it neatly merges with the back of the car.
You may remember Mercedes’ Concept Coupe SUV preview from a few months ago. This MLC is the production version of the car. Although the BMW X6 is not necessarily a looker, Mercedes cars have always managed to get attention with their simple yet elegant designs.
The good part about Mercedes designs was that they put in a lot of effort to make sure the car looked the part and kept the luxury car tag the company prides on. Even its largest SUVs don’t make you avert your eyes when you look at them.
The MLC is expected to be unveiled next year so the Mercedes MLC 63 AMG will be another six months further from that date.
