The Fortuner SUV is long overdue for a change now and we have the images on how the next version will look like. Toyota has made the new version looks sleeker but does not miss out on the butch factor the car is known for.
Derived from the Hilux Pick-up truck, the Fortuner will carry on the ladder frame chassis design.
The swept back headlights will now hold projector lamps. The front bumper has been worked upon to fit the fog lamps and a dash of chrome (they could be DRL`s. we will have to wait for clearer images) around it. The Toyota logo is now held on in the grille by horizontal slats, one less than before.
The car looks longer which is good news in terms of interior space, not that it was a problem before. This time around Toyota will not make the mistake of keeping the dash similar to the Innova and it will have lots of additional features for a more upmarket feel.
Toyota will continue with the diesel engine with optional 2 and 4 wheel drive capabilities. The 5-speed manual and automatic transmission will remain on the 2016 Fortuner.
Although the Fortuner has been the market leader in its segment, it will face good competition ahead. Ford is readying the new Endeavour for a mid-2015 launch and going by the buzz created by it already, Toyota has to get the new Fortuner to the market fast.
