Many people believe the Bugatti Veyron SS (SuperSport) to be the fastest car in the world, but few know its wrong. That title belongs to the Hennessey Venom GT at 270mph against the Veyrons 268. But boss John Hennessey believes it is possible to go even higher in the range of 290 mph in a production car and that is the new Hennessey Venom F5. For us Indians 290 mph = 467 kmph!!
The Hennessey Venom F5 will have 1,400 bhp, or more!! Now that is an astonishing figure even if it is compared to the Veyron which has 1,244 bhp. A 7.0 lit Twin-turbo V8 will do all the blue collar work under the hood and Hennessey Performance is still figuring out how much power the engine actually produces, hence the “or more” earlier.
The gearbox chosen to transfer the power to the rear wheels will be a single clutch one with paddle shifts. It was chosen on particular grounds that a dual-clutch `box would be too heavy and not as durable. The drag coefficient of the Hennessey Venom F5 stands at .40 which is an improvement of .04 over the standard Venom. The F5 is likely to have the same weight as the Venom GT which stands just below 1300 kg, which equals more than 1000 bhp per tonne!!
Makes you drool doesn’t it?
And these are not just heavy promises made by a man with a few credentials, John Hennessey has an excellent record to makes us believe that he will do everything possible in the world to reach the magical 290 mph figure in his car. The Venom GT broke the record as the fastest production car earlier this year by clocking 270 mph. You may not find this in the record books as the Venom only ran in one direction while Guinness World Records stipulates the car run in two directions. But none the less, 270 mph in any direction is no small feat.
Hennessey has decided to limit the production of the Venom F5 at 30 units with each costing more than the $1,200,000 sticker price of the Venom GT. If you have some spare change in the bank, this one is an investment you do not want to miss!!
