It is time for the British street car racers and goons in the UK to be alarmed as the Ariel Atom has taken its place in the fleet of the Police forces. Now the Police would have the upper hand in the car chases across the UK with this beast driven by some of the best trained driver in the UK police. The Ariel Atom 3.5 R has been recruited by the cops and is named as PL1 which will deal with the rogue motorcyclists of the country. This news would excite you but soon curb your enthusiasm after reading the car would only be used on the tracks. Yes, you read it right. Ariel Atom will be used for Safer Rider Campaign. The PL1 will debut at a motorbike awareness and training day campaign in Somerset. The campaign scheduled on 8th June 2014 has been conducted to spread the awareness of driving motorbikes with safety in mind.
The motorcyclist make 1 percent of total road traffic. However, they account for 20 percent of the deaths caused due to road accidents. The modern motorcycles being light weight and tremendous power are capable of performing like a supercar. And with such power the risk of accidents increases due to human error or lack of experience. Simon Saunders, Ariel director mentioned that they wanted to promote a message for road safety before the company launches their new Ariel motorcycle. He also added that tracks are the only place where an enthusiast should test their car’s limit and not on the roads. Atom is all about going fast but with all the safety measures considered at those speed and should only be done so on the tracks.
The Ariel Atom is powered by a supercharged 350bhp Honda engine which can go from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds. This is not the first attempt of the police to campaign in such a fashion. Sadly, we won’t be seeing any action on the roads but the promotion of such safety messages should be taken seriously and followed every time by the motorcyclists responsible. With great power comes great responsibility.
