And you thought that the Bentley Continental could not get any faster. The Volkswagen owned brand has announced an even faster, more brutal version of the Continental – Bentley Continental GT3-R with the tag “A road car with racing soul”. Inspired by its race-sibling the Continental GT3 the added -R moniker stands for its Road version. And its very exclusive too, the GT3-R will only see 300 examples made in total.
The beast will be powered by the same 4.0-litre twin-turbo V-8 engine found in the GT3 race car, but now generates 580 PS (700 Nm) thanks to brand new turbocharger and revamped ECU tuning. Unlike the Racing version that gets a sequential gearbox, the GT3-R will be mated to 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. Bentley has made the car lighter too but reducing 100kgs from the standard Continental V8. With all the tinkering in fat-reduction and powertrain enhancements the race-inspired-roadcar would do a whoppingly fast sprint of 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.6 seconds and carry on flat out to a top speed of 274Kmph.
The car has been loaded with a lot of new features like 4WD with a torque vectoring rear differential, titanium exhaust aiding its light weight and enhancing its grunt, also there is a new Carbon Silicon Carbide (CSiC) braking system and a tweaked ESP system for better grip over the 21-inch Pirellis.
Bentley, known for their luxury leaves nothing to compromise with this new road-racer. The car is studded with stylish and very lavish interiors and all the luxury amenities the German-ownened British marque is known for. the occupants are cocooned in brand-new sports seats, carbon-fiber dashboard instead of the regular wooden one on the Continental and has a bold highlightingof green with shiny chrome “GT3-R” badge on the centre console.
With the introduction of the GT3-R bentley places their Continental lineup with the rest of the Race-inspired manufacturer cars such as the Mercedes-Benz CL63 and the Aston Martin DB9. Although this Conti is way far from them in any form or shape as its weight still being 2195kgs is far away from the sporty handling that the later provide, it would still be an awesome place to sit and enjoy the burble of the massive V8.
There is no news on prices yet but we will update you once we have any. Stay Tuned!
