After a stunning unveiling at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show, the BMW M4 is now ready to be launched in India. The car has already arrived in the country for pre-launch tests and is expected to be launched by August of this year.
The BMW M4 is the new version of the M3 coupe keeping in mind the BMW system of nomenclature. BMW is using its social media accounts in a very useful way to continually tease its fans across the world of its upcoming models and garnering huge attention.
Under the shapely hood of the M4 is a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder turbocharged engine which develops 431 bhp of maximum power and 550 Nm of peak torque from 1,850 to 5,500 rpm. The car will be offered with two transmissions, 6-speed manual and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. 0-100 kmph is achieved in 4.3 secs for the manual and 0.2 secs faster (4.2 secs) in the automatic gearbox. As with most cars in this segment and in general, the top-speed is electronically restricted to 250 kmph.
Xenon headlights, LED side indicators, Dakota leather on the inside with heated front seats and parking distance control are some of the standard features on the M4. The M4 is offered with 5 trim levels worldwide: SE, Sport, Modern, Luxury and M Sport, for India we will just have to wait and watch. Details of each of these will only be made available at the time of its launch.
BMW has put its pedal to the metal after loosing its numero uno position in the luxury car market in India and is presently on the third position behind Audi and Mercedes. The company had promised to launch a few M models in the country this year of which the M6 Gran Coupe is already out on the road.
