Year 2017 will have bring a competition for the Mercedes Benz GLA class and Audi RS Q3 with its arrival. Yes, BMW has started testing the highly debated BMW X2. The X series started as a sub segment called “Sports Activity Coupés” (SAC) with the launch of BMW X6 in 2009 and in no time became very popular among the masses. These BMW’s are now a family of crossover which is going to have a new member in 2016, the BMW X2.
These cars may differ in size but have the same DNA. The even numbers are sportier versions of the preceding odd numbers like, the X6 is based on X5, X4 on X3 and finally the X2 will be based on the same UKL platform of the X1. The car is also expected to share the interiors with the younger brother. The exteriors, not to mention, will be similar to that of the X1 but there will be some differences like a smaller rear window, sportier roof-line, etc.
The new BMW X2 is a much awaited launch due to its sporty DNA. The engines offered will include turbocharged three, four and six cylinders with front wheel drive and 4WD as an option. Topped by an M performance 2.0 liter engine pushing 300 HP and a standard all wheel drive.
We can expect the new car in India shortly after its global debut. Looking at the growing sales of the X series here, the car is expected to perform good on the sales front as by then other X cousins will set a good background for the new new sibling.
