American auto giant Chevrolet will showcase its urban SUV at the auto expo next month. The sub 4 meter SUV will be based on GMs small car platform, Gamma 2.
The car will compete head on with fellow american Ford`s Ecosport and the Renault Duster. For a chance to make its mark on the segment, Chevrolet must really do their homework on the car. Car buyers can`t get enough of the Ecosport and the Duster due to their capabilities and VFM proposition. To scare these cars, Chevrolet will go all-in in terms of luxury as well as ride and handling.
The car will have a 77bhp 1.3-litre diesel engine, which we are now familiar with thanks to the Sail (hatch and saloon) and the Enjoy MPV. No news was heard about the petrol variant, but expect familiar engines from the company, nothing absolutely new.
Chevrolet was never in the numbers game. The company yearns for a place in the Indian car scene, for which it does have a few good cars in its line up. The Cruze and the Beat Diesel in particular are well known for their sheer power and effortless engine respectively. The Chevy Spark also offers a good alternative to the humdrum Maruti Suzukis in the large volume segment.
Chevrolet seems to be on the right track with some good cars on offer and upgrades of some coming soon.
Chevrolet will also raise the curtain on the updated Beat. The upgraded Beat will feature new mirrors, restyled bumpers and redesigned headlamp and tail-light clusters..
Chevy will also showcase a variety of cars the Expo, these include the stunning Corvette C7 Stingray, new Camaro and the Trailblazer SUV. A Beat in Manchester United livery will also grab some eyeballs.
Will Chevrolet hit it out of the park this time or will it just deliver another dud, stay tuned to AutoColumn for more news on Chevrolet and the Auto Expo 2014.
