Chinese cars featured in Transformers 4, to be sold in America next year

If the auto enthusiast within you has spotted the SUV’s in Transformer: Age of Extinction during the scenes set in China, you might just see some of them on roads of USA. Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. founded in 2010, company operates manufacturing joint ventures with Toyota Motor Corp. and Fiat SpA has several of its Trumpchi brand of vehicles in new action film by Michael Bay.

“Our sponsorship of ‘Transformers 4’ will help more overseas dealers and consumers know about our cars and over the long run it will greatly contribute to our branding,” Wu said in a phone interview on Wednesday. “We want to start exporting to the U.S. as quickly as possible, and I am confident that they will find our Trumpchi cars competitive.

GAC will introduce its flagship model Trumpchi GS5 SUV first in USA. In China, it is offered in two engine variants, a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 145 horsepower and 138 pound-feet or a 1.8-liter turbocharged four cylinder with 174 horsepower and 175 lb-ft. Both variants are available in automatic as well as manual transmission, with rear wheel and all wheel drive option.

Guangzhou Auto currently exports its Trumpchi vehicles to the Middle East, South America andRussia. Demand for the brand has exceeded expectationally, with total sales projected to reach 135,000 units this year versus an earlier target of 115,000 vehicles. 

Released worldwide, transformers: Age of Extinction features actor Mark Wahlberg, is predicted to rank among the biggest-grossing of the year with U.S. ticket revenue projected at $265 million by BoxOffice.com. The automaker was approached to participate in the fourth installment of the Transformers movie franchise after director Michael Bay saw the Trumpchi E-Jet electric car at an auto show.
