It is being said that Datsun India will launch the Go+ MPV in the coming months. The manufacturer seems to have already started producing the Go-based MPV at the Renault-Nissan Oragadam facility near Chennai, and in all chances, the first batch of the Go+ will be soon dispatched to the dealers. Basically, the Go+ is a larger version of the Go, complete with a third row of seats and larger cabin space. However, the wheelbase and many panels are shared between the two Datsun models.
While the upcoming Go+ MPV is as much as 210 mm longer than the hatchback sibling, international media reports that the leg space for the passengers in the third row isn’t anything to write home about. Much of this can be attributed to the fact that the Go+, in spite of being significantly bigger than the Go hatchback, measures less than four metres in overall length. All is not lost though, as the sub-4m length would enable the upcoming MPV to benefit from excise duty relaxations, which would in turn translate into an attractive price tag. It is being expected that the Datsun Go+ price in India would start at a little less than INR 5 lakhs, which would mean that the price of Go+ in India would undercut that of many upper B segment hatchbacks. The upcoming MPV will share its engines with the hatchback sibling and will come with a 1.2 litre petrol and a 1.5 litre diesel engine option. Both the motors will come paired to five speed manual transmissions and would produce 68 PS and 66 PS respectively. The soon to be launched model will come with features such as follow me home headlamps, spinal support seats and tear drop wipe function for the wipers.
Rumors state that the pre-launch bookings for the Datsu Go+ MPV could commence around the advent of next year and the upcoming model would go on to become a cheaper alternative to hot sellers like the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, the Honda Mobilio and the Chevrolet Enjoy.
