Running high on the response the 595 Abarth Competizione got on its launch last month in addition to the tongues it set wagging after showcasing the Punto Abarth at the BIC, Fiat is considering a high performance version of its sedan, Linea, for India.

The Linea Abarth will be propelled by the 1.4 litre T-Jet turbo powered Petrol engine with 145 bhp of max power at 6,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,730 rpm. The Punto Evo Abarth and the Avventura Abarth will feature the same engines!
Fiat India has finally realized how to create a buzz and get people talking! Gauging by the response the Punto Abarth and now the Linea Abarth has created, Fiat will need to keep burning the midnight oil to fulfill the orders it will get.
If the handling and cornering of the Linea is the cake, then the 145 bhp is the bright red cherry on top! Fiat Linea is one of the very few sedans on offer in India right now which has an hydraulic power steering system and even haters will agree it is far above and beyond the competition.
Although we cannot confirm when the Linea Abarth will be launched, the Punto Evo Abarth is slated to be launched next month just ahead of the festive season.
While the launch of the Linea did create a stir, for the past 6 years, it has barely set the cash registers ringing and its sales figures are down to double digits every month. Consider this: Mercedes sell more cars in India than Fiat does!
Fiat sells few cars in India but has managed to stay afloat thanks to its MultiJet Diesel engine which is employed in so many cars in the country, it is widely referred to as the national engine of India.
