Ford Ka is a heavily awaited car in the Indian market since a long time. Ford has launched the Ka hatchback in the Brazilian market and its next stop is India. Brazil has similar tendencies and taste as the Indian market and hence is quite important to Ford.
This is the first time that four door versions of the Ka are made available as the car was primarily a two door hatch before. Ford has studied about developing nations and how they need to move their families and hence the switch to four doors.
The car is named as the Figo in many markets and features a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder engine with 85 hp of power and max torque of 107 Nm. This engine can run on gasoline and ethanol. A 1.5 litre diesel engine will also be plonked in the car soon.
Ford has launched the car in two versions, a base , SE and SEL which is the top-end version. Electric power steering, power lock, foldable key with remote functions, height adjustable steering wheel, Head-unit with bluetooth, USB port and My Doc Ford are all standard on the SE. In the optional PLUS package you get electric rear windows, steering mounted controls and voice control.
The SEL trim includes a trip computer, driver seat height adjustment, alarm, electronic stability control or ESC and 15inch wheels vs the 14 inch ones on the SE. The car has been made available in seven colors: Vanilla White, Ebony Black, Silver Dublin, Red Arpoador, Acrtic White, Riviera Silver and Savana Orange.
India will get the car next year with similar specs to replace the present Figo as the company`s cash cow. It will be made at the Sanand Plant in Gujrat which will be fully operational by that time.
