GIIAS round up: All new launches which will eventually come to India

Volkswagen Polo GTI

The all new Volkswagen Polo GTI made its global debut at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2015.  Volkswagen India will most likely launch its latest Polo in the country by the end of 2015.

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI will most likely come with a 1.8-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine producing maximum power output of 188bhp and maximum torque of 320Nm, mated to a seven-speed DSG transmission, going from 0-100 km/hr in 6.7 seconds, reports say. The new Volkswagen Polo GTI comes in AWD with all new sports suspension and disc brakes. The Volkswagen Polo GTI will come via the CKD-route, making it much cheaper than the competition in Abarth 500.


Nissan X-Trail

The other India bound car is Nissan X-Trail SUV. Previous iteration was discontinued last year due to poor sales and the new version of the SUV will be available in the India market by Diwali or latest before December. The new car will compete in the luxury SUV segment to compete against Hyundai Santa-Fe, Honda CR-V.

X-Trail can come to India with a  1.6 litre in-line4  diesel engine churning out 128.7HP and maximum torque of 320Nm, mated to a six-speed CVT gearbox. The second-gen Nissan X-Trail will also come with 4WD system according to reports. It will be brought as CKD units and can be priced between 25-35 lakhs.


Honda BR-V

Honda , with the launch of the prototype has declared that the car will be launched in the first half in the Indonesian market which will be followed by by launch in the other markets. BR-V is a seven seater SUV which is built on the Brio platform mostly for the developing markets. According to Honda, BR-V features the combination of an SUV appearance and handling and great utility and the spacious cabin of an MPV.

Honda is expected to offer BR-V with the same engine and transmission options as seen on board the new City. This will be in the form of a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol generating 118 PS and 145 Nm torque with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel motor generating 100 PS power and 200 Nm torque. Transmission options will include 5 speed MT and CVT variant



Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (Facelift)

Maruti Suzuki has showcased the refurbished Ertiga at 2015 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show). The India launch could happen during the festive season in about a months time. The engine remains the same  1.4-liter K-Series VVT petrol engine that has been detuned by 3 PS to produce 92 PS power and 130 Nm of peak torque. It will continue offering a 5-speed manual gearbox and 4-speed automatic transmission has been added as an option on the higher variants.

On the inside, we might get chrome circumference for the speedometer and tachometer. Other updates include new 3rd row seats with 50:50 split fold, new fabric seat upholstery, and new colors for the steering wheel, floor carpet, gear-knob and dashboard. The company says that it has improved the noise and vibration insulation. Suzuki have also added ORVMs, Auto Up power window in the drivers side, optional socket console box in the second row, dual airbags and ABS taking up the safety aspect a few notches higher.

These are the cars heading to our shores around the festive season except the Honda BR-V which will come next year. So if you are looking out for cars in these segments, wait for a few days because there is going to be a barrage of  new car launches in next couple of months.
