Legendary car designer, Giorgetto Giugiaro, has sold off his stake in the design company he founded to Audi and has quit all positions in the company.
The Italian started his automotive career with Fiat at the age of 17, followed by Bertone and Ghia until 1968 when he founded his own company, Italdesign Giugiaro S.p.A along with Aldo Mantovani.
Giugiaro sold 90.1% stake in Italdesign to Lamborghini via Audi in May 2010. He held on to the remaining stake till late last month when he decided to sell it off completely. The official company report stated Giugiaro, 76, quit to follow his personal interests.

These are just a select few which are always featured on “Worlds most beautiful cars” lists year after year. Apart from this, he is also credited for designing the Lotus Espirit, BMW M1 and the Maserati Quattroporte. No wonder he was named the “Car Designer of the Century” in 1999. He was also inducted in the “Automotive World Of Fame” in 2002.
He did not limit his greatness to automobiles though and is revered worldwide for his designs which includes Nikon D3 Camera, Beretta CX4 Storm Sub-Machine Gun and Seiko Speedmaster wrist watch.
