You read it first on AutoColumn. Hyundai India will launch 3 cars in India in 2015, including 1 facelift and 2 new cars. Hyundai India had a successful year with i20 Elite as Indian Car Of The Year. Hyundai India gained 17% market share and on #2 position in the top seller with i20 Elite rocking the chart. Hyundai’s i10 Grand, Xcent compact sedan, i20 Elite and EON contributed heavily to achieve this growth of Hyundai in India.
To continue the success story of 2014, Hyundai India will launch 3 cars in 2015 that includes Verna facelift first, followed by i20 Cross and the last but not the least Hyundai ix 25 crossover.
1. Hyundai Verna face-lift
All new Hyundai Verna facelift will be launched in the first quarter of 2015. The car will feature a new front grille inspired from current generation Sonata and it will give tough competition to Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. The car is expected to get an updated suspension setup that will make new Verna a better handling car inside city as well as on highways. Hyundai has considered ride and handling part specifically for Indian roads from the launch of i10 Grand. The ride quality will no more swinging with body roll with new generation Hyundai cars. The face-lifted Verna will also be an improved car in terms of fuel economy, though the petrol and diesel engines will remain same.
2. Hyundai i20 Elite Cross
The second launch from Hyundai in 2015 will be i20 Elite Cross. Just like VW CrossPolo, Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura, Hyundai will come up a cross version of the recently launched i20 Elite. The i2o Elite Cross will stand on 16 inch wheels and will feature body cladding all around. Front and rear, will boast faux skid plates. Roof rails and body side moulding will be added to enhance i20 elite cross looks. There will not be any changes in engine options, but interiors will get a better treatment for crossover styling.
3. Hyundai ix25
In the last quarter of 2015 Hyundai will launch its compact SUV tailored for the Indian market. The new compact SUV from Hyundai will be under 4 meter and expected to get same powertrains of i20 Elite in petrol and diesel variant. It will be pitched against Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster and upcoming Mahindra’s compact SUV. The ix25 styling is inspired from Hyuindai SantaFE. Hyundai might add an automatic gearbox to the offerings of ix25.
