Honda sells a 3 lakh 2-wheelers in just 10 days

The past 10 days of Navratri might just make the honchos at Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India break into a garba!! Reason being the company has been able to sell a sensational 3 lakh 2-wheelers in just 10 days. Certainly, the festive season has gotten off to the best possible start for HMSI.

Yadvinder S. Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India said, “Our focused strategy and preparation for festive period paid off as Navratra results have been phenomenal for Honda. Honda maintained its leadership in scooters and our performance in motorcycles is most heartening. With Livo being a spectacular success; and CB Shine and Dream Yuga continuing to be best-sellers; we have defied the negativity that was prevailing in motorcycle segment since November 2014 and expect the cheer to continue into next month too.”

Topping the sales chart was Honda Activa in the scooter segment, whereas CB Shine sold the most in motorcycles. The Livo also got a flying start to its festive season and racked up five digit sales in just five days. The company managed to sell over 90,000 units in one day with many people considering certain days more auspicious than others and wanting the bikes delivered on that specific day.

The company is now number one seller in the states of  Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Punjab and Delhi and Chandigarh (Union Territory) . In fact, Honda’s market share in the automatic scooter is as high as over 80 percent in Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh and over 70 percent in 3 States (Andhra Pradesh, Haryana and Uttarakhand).

Commenting on Honda’s performance, Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “In the first quarter of FY’2015-16, Honda grew 5 times faster than the industry. Honda 2Wheeler is now the ‘Most preferred 2-wheeler brand’ in an impressive 8 States and 1 Union Territory. Our strategy to launch many new models in both scooter and motorcycle segments, network expansion in smaller towns, increased flexibility in production mix to meet demand and top of mind brand recall brand has been well accepted in the market.”
