2015 Jaguar XJ facelift spy shots

UK based luxury car maker Jaguar is giving a cosmetic makeover to its flagship model, the XJ. This is the first update the car has received, in terms of looks, since its launch nearly 5 years ago (X351).

Here we can see the prototype of the car along with the present XJ.  Lets see if you can spot the differences.

Did you spot the new clear lens turn indicators?

Did you spot the redesigned air dam.

At the rear did you spot that the prototype has differently shaped exhausts?

As far as we can figure out, these are the only differences between the two. The reason behind this is that it is only a facelift and not a new generation. Jaguar had updated the XJ with a different powertrain previously and had upgraded the interiors but this is the first time they had a go on the outside.

Since there has been no conformation about this facelift accommodating new engines from Jaguars new engine plant at Wolverhampton, it is safe to assume that there will be no changes under the bonnet. The 550 horsepower XJR will remain the most powerful version of the lot with the standard XJ belting out 340 bhp from a V6 engine.

The prospective customers who complained about the space in the rear, or rather the lack of it, will have to wait until the next generation though. We, in India are not aware of this as we did not get the standard wheelbase XJ, we only got the extended wheelbase XJL.

The launch of this is very important for the company as this will be the first of the many models the company plans to launch in the coming years. That includes the highly anticipated XE saloon, next gen XF and a crossover based on the CX17 Concept. All these cars will follow the XJ facelift to Jaguar showrooms around late 2014. The facelift XJ will be showcased as the 2015 model.

We like the XJ it is a pretty car in the market which is overflowing with Japanese boxes and German cars which look nearly the same, thanks to “family look”. Jaguar has taken the right step by just tweaking the XJ`s looks and not going back to the drawing board.
