Riders rejoice! The current favorite of many amateur aspiring and seasoned bikers, the KTM Duke 390 is now available in a brand new paint scheme. KTM calls it “Midnight Black”, we call it Awesome! The paint scheme was previewed just a couple of months ago at the EICMA in Milan.
Since its launch in June last year, KTM only offered a white shade on the Duke 390. This new color will certainly help those who wanted the exclusivity factor. The price of the bike remains same at INR 1,86,500 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi) and will be available across all the 117 KTM dealerships across the country.
The Duke 390 produces 43 bhp from a 375 cc four-stroke single cylinder water cooled engine. The torque figures are equally impressive at 35Nm. The bike also shares the 6-speed gearbox with its younger sibling, Duke 200 but it is reworked to give a taller 6th gear for obvious reasons. Imagine all of this in a bike which weighs just a shade above the 150kg mark!
The tubular space frame chassis is equally impressive and helps the bike corner like a hot knife on butter. These were the two major reasons why the Duke 390 received such a good response in India. It is every bit of a savage beast you would expect from a mid-size sports bike and then some more. The 390 also come with ABS,just to give you a second chance if you ever disrespect the bike or take it for granted.
KTM says it has achieved over 95% of localisation for the 390 and only a handful of components are imported. Both, the Duke 200 and the 390 are manufactured at the Bajaj plant in Pune and KTM even exports bike to Europe from here.
This comes just before the Auto Expo in Delhi where KTM will unveil the Duke 200 with ABS. KTM is also working on getting the RC twins, RC200 and RC390 in the country. Expect those to be launched at the Auto Expo or soon after.
