Marking 5 years of operation in India, Land Rover launched the limited edition- Land Rover Freelander 2 Sterling Edition in India, priced at 44.41 lakhs (ex showroom, Mumbai). Land Rover has also planned to launch the new Freelander 2 in 2015, hence the limited edition launch, is to bid farewell to the current model and also help clear off existing inventory too.
The Land Rover Freelander 2 Sterling Edition was launched, keeping in mind customers who do not mind paying a little extra for a sportier look and also of course the premium Sterling Edition badging. The Sterling Edition gets a new body kit with bumper skirts at the front and back, 17-inch Anthracite-finish alloy’s, dark atlas front grille, a dark atlas fender, lower door claddings, a shiny tailpipe finish in a shade of black and a tailgate spoiler are the cosmetic changes which make the Freelander 2 look sportier.
Since nothing has changed under the hood, the Sterling Edition is powered by the same 2.2 liter, 4-cylinder, diesel engine, that belts out 150 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Commenting on the launch of the Land Rover Freelander 2 Sterling Edition, Rohit Suri, VP, Jaguar and Land Rover India said ” It will futher endear the hugely popular model to our young and sophisticated customers looking to own an exclusive Land Rover with enhanced sporty looks”.
The Sterling Edition will compete with the likes of the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Volvo XC60. We hope that the Sterling Edition captures and creates a bigger market for the upcoming Freelander 2 next year.
