LML Star Euro 150cc scooter launched at INR 54,014

If you were in the market for a modern scooter with retro looks but did not fancy the Vespa, you now have an option. A very good one in fact.  Lohiya Motors Limited or LML has launched their Star Euro 150 automatic scooter in India. With a 150 cc engine coupled to a CVT gearbox it is now the scooter with the largest displacement in India.

The engine is is a four stroke vertically mounted element, a first in any automatic scooter in India. It belts out 9.2 bhp which helps the bike to reach a top speed of 90kmph. With a kerb weight of 115 kg, the  7 litre fuel tank will easily power it for 350 kms at the company claimed mileage of 55 kmpl. We expect the figure to drop to 40 – 45 kmpl out in the real world.

The company claims the Star Euro 150 is India`s first full metal bodied automatic scooter. The scooter will use Hydraulic dampers and helical springs for suspension duties. It uses a semi-monocoque structure at the front and a tubular frame at the rear for better stability and sturdiness. Drum brakes are standard at both ends but the company offers front disc brakes as an option.

The scooter will be launched in three variants. The distinguishing features and respective prices are:

Features include an engine kill switch, glove compartment and a speedo with Eco and Power modes. The scooter will be offered in the following colors : Black Gold, Cipria Red, Eclair Brown, Glicine, Lilac Blue, Pearl White and Multi Shade. Our pick is the Multi Shade as it offers the perfect combination of retro styling with an adequate dash of fun thrown in.

This will be a serious contender to the Piaggio Vespa in terms of retro styling and appeal. On comparison, a similar specced Vespa will cost you upwards of INR 10k over the Star Euro 150.
