Mahindra Reva Electric Vehicles, a part of the Mahindra Group launched an upgraded variant of the e20 called the Mahindra e2o Premium with a price tag of Rs 5.72 lakh (on-road, Delhi).
The Mahindra e2o Premium electric car comes with a few added upgrades in lieu of its elder sibling. The e2o Premium now comes with an extended range of 120 km on a full charge as opposed to the 80 km on the e20 variant. The little electric wonder features some top class features such as a power steering wheel- which helps navigate better at low speeds and in urban areas, rear parking camera, touch screen infotainment display, bluetooth, satellite navigation system and a smart phone synced app- that tells the charge in the battery and the nearest charging stations.
Coming to the powertrain in the electric Mahindra e2o premium, the e2o Premium is powered by an electric motor which produces 19 Kw of power and 53.9 Nm of torque. It has a 48V Lithium-ion battery, which takes 5 hrs to charge and can attain a top speed of 81 km/h.
To help promote the use of electric cars and also boost the sales of the Mahindra e2o variants, Mahindra introduced an innovative scheme tagged ” Goodbye Fuel, Hullo Electric!”. Through this scheme, the initial purchase costs and maintenance costs are separate. The maintenance and ownership responsibility of the battery lies with Mahindra Electric and the customers only have for the distance one will travel. For instance the e2o premium costs Rs 5.7 lakhs Delhi, add to it a monthly energy fee of Rs 2,999 and the customer can use the electric car for 50,000 kms over a five-year span.
Mahindra has covered various angles to promote the e2o Premium and also its range of upcoming electric cars: a Maxximo minivan and an electric variant of the Verito sedan. We hop Mahindra are successful in increasing the share of the electric car segment in the Indian car market.
