The car was there for a TVC shoot and was fitted with cameras in the front of the car. The camera set up covered the entire front from hood to the windshield. But, luckily though, the rest of the car was open for us to have a good look. Varun Dhawan is believed to be the brand ambassador of the new Mahindra XUV100. The car being shot had a dog in the passenger seat.
The third sub 4 meter vehicle from Mahindra after TUV300 and Quanto has a similar bulky image. Being an entry-level car, it shockingly has very SUVish appearance. The car spotted was painted in orange which admittedly was suiting the new car. The new Mahindra XUV100 has wraparound tail lamps, curvy rear windshield with a wiper and washer, bulgy boot lid with integrated rear spoiler. The car has character lines running all around the body.
The all-black rear bumper looks like an extension of the under body cladding. The bumper had reflectors or fog lamps on both ends surrounded by chrome touch-ups. The B-Pillar is all blacked out and the handles of rear doors are beside the window, like the Chevrolet Beat. The Mahindra XUV100 has two connectors on the roof connecting the front and the rear windshield. These connectors look like roof rails but they are not. The black plastic wheel arches support the crossover character of the car. The small car rides on alloy wheels that appear to be 14-inches.
Coming to the engine, the Mahindra XUV100 will be powered by an all new 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine developed in-house with the help of Ssangyong inputs. The diesel variant will be powered by the 1.5-liter, mHawk which also powers the TUV300. Both these engines will be mated on a 5-speed Manual Transmission and Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The new car is expected to be launched in the third week of January 2016. The price is expected to start at INR 4 lakhs. When launched, the Mahindra XUV100 will directly rival the Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Hyundai i10, and other in the segment.
