Mahindra XUV 5OO Sportz brochure leaked

After its really exciting launch and a superb response a few years ago, M&M never really upgraded or refreshed the XUV 5OO. Now though it gets a special edition. Dubbed, XUV5OO Sportz, it is nothing more than a few, very red, cosmetic changes. It will be based on the top-of-the-line W8 version and will be a special edition, hence will have a short manufacturing run.

The added goodies include splashes of red decals on the bonnet, sides and the roof. The alloy wheels, door handles and fog lamps will have a dash of red spread on them as well. The XUV was never the car for people who wanted to come across as polite and humble and if you want such a car, stay away.

Inside, the car will feature better fabrics and upmarket leather interiors for a plusher feel. A much needed rear view camera and an additional armrest complete the added features. All of this is beyond the standard equipment which this trim (W8) of the XUV offers: GPS enabled six inch display, automatic climate control, automatic wipers and lights, lots of airbags (front, curtain and side). The car also features electrically operated ORVMs.

For ease of highway driving the W8 has automatic cruise coontrol and for security it has ABS with EBD and ESP, hill hold and hill ascent function. Under the bonnet it will have the same 2.2 litre mhawk140 diesel engine which produces 140 bhp at 3750 rpm and 330 Nm of torque from 1600 to 2800 rpm. The engine has a VGT or variable geometry turbo charger which is one of many reasons for the success of the XUV500.

Expect the XUV5OO Sportz to be priced INR 60,000 to 70,000 more than the W8 variant.
