Maruti Suzuki has been able to get success in the premium hatch market. The Maruti Baleno hatch which was pitted against the Hyundai i20 Elite primarily has garnered bookings for more than 4600 units in just two days according to the company.
Maruti Suzuki Baleno was launched on 26th October at an introductory price tag of Rs 4.99 lakh. The prices go all the way up to Rs 8.11 lakh.Maruti has made available a petrol engine in the form of 1.2-litre VVT unit churning out 84bhp and 115Nm of torque while the diesel engine is a 1.3-litre DDiS 190 engine that gives 74bhp and a 190Nm of torque.
2016 Suzuki Baleno comes a 5-speed manual gearbox comes standard across all variants and trims while a CVT automatic gearbox is only offered with the Delta petrol trim which costs Rs 6.76 lakh, ex-showroom. The Suzuki Baleno has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 21.4km/l while the diesel offers 27.39km/l.
Maruti’s premium hatch gets dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) and anti-theft security system as standard features along with a whole host of features as you go up the variants and trims.
Also, the prices are going to go up after Diwali which might be the reason for the bookings shooting through the roof. “This is an introductory offer. We are going to, very soon, revise the prices. In fact, on a lighter note it is more of a Diwali gift to our Indian customers from Maruti Suzuki,”said Partho Banerjee, Senior Vice President (NEXA Channel), Marketing & Sales
The Suzuki Baleno is exclusively available at NEXA showrooms across the country and is the second car after S-Cross to be made available through the premium experience stores. .
