We, at 4wheelreviews have been continuously updating you about Maruti’s A-Star replacement, Celerio that is scheduled to be launched next month. First came the pics, then the AMT gearbox information, later brochure and now all the details regarding its variants are here. Before the actual launch Maruti has made Celerio website which reveals a lot of information about the upcoming small car.
Celerio will be powered by a 998cc 3-cylinder petrol engine, named the K10B. The engine has a 4–valve per cylinder arrangement which allows it to make 68PS of max power and 90Nm of max torque at 3500 rpm. A diesel engine may be in the works but has not been confirmed by the company. The car just weighs 850kg (manual version) which maybe the reason why Maruti Suzuki did not put a bigger engine inside the bonnet.
The vehicle will be available in not three but six variants, and yes AMT gearbox will be optional in all variant.

A-Star was a failure for Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) even after being the only car in that segment with automatic gearbox after Hyundai i10. For the company that could do nothing wrong, A-Star was a severe blow but Maruti Suzuki now aims to change that. We expect Maruti Suzuki Celerio to price in the vicinity of 4 to 5 lakh and it will be an another big hit from the company. Maruti Suzuki is creating competition to it’s own product and is trying to retain customers with a few more options within Maruti Suzuki group products before going to other automakers.
