#coolcatsintown is making a whole lot of buzz on social media and yes, we at AutoColumn found it first- what is that, its the 2014 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Yesterday, there was a news headline which stated “Delhi Woman Faints After Seeing A Cat Driving A Car!” Everyone is flabbergasted about the cat driving the car- but which fancy sedan is the cat driving?
Its the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. We cross checked it with patent images of Ciaz and found out, that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz launch campaign started socially with a buzz that is related to Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra’s new movie ‘Mary Kom releasing on 5th Sept. There are fat chances that the car will be revealed on the same day in India. Have a look at the cat in its Ciaz mobile!
When we saw this picture we wondered- what car does the cat fancy-Ciaz?
The reasons why we think its the Ciaz:
1. Fog lamps in Ciaz patent images match with the teaser picture
2. A pillar, ORVM and front door panel are identical
3. Character line on the car and the rear three quarter window exactly matches with the teaser image car
4. Impression on body panel just above side skirts line
5.Oh yes and the headlamps are same
The car looks promising in pictures and Maruti Suzuki already started production of the car at Manesar plant. The Ciaz will be powered by 1.4 litre K series (K14B) petrol engine, which can produce 95 PS power and 130 Nm peak torque and the diesel model will be powered by a 1.3 liter DDIS motor that can produce 90 PS power and 200 Nm peak torque. There are rumors about Ciat will also come with CVT transmission on petrol variant. The car will be launched in total six variants: 3 petrol – VXi, VXi+, ZXi and 3 diesel – VDi, VDi+ and ZDi in India.
The Ciaz will be a game changer for Maruti Suzuki India and will compete with the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and VW Vento. According to IBtimes the car will come in seven body paints – Pearl metallic arctic white, Midnight black, Silky Silver, Glistening Grey, Clear Beige, Chocolate Brown and Fire Brick Red.
The car is expected to have height adjustable steering wheel, steering mounted audio controls, rear AC vents, driver and passenger armrest and electrically foldable ORVMs, side indicators on ORVMs and many more features that are available with the competition.
