The car, internally known as the YL1, has been doing rounds for quite sometime now. The preparations are in the final stage for the preview of the car and it will run on Indian roads by the end of the year.

The car is based on a completely new platform and not on the Ertiga or Swift as might have been reported earlier. To get a better idea of the Ciaz, google Suzuki Authentic concepts. It was previewed at the Shanghai Motor Show last year.

Inside ,the Ciaz, will share its look to the SX4 and the Ertiga with minor changes. Dont expect too many upgrades under the bonnet as well. The Ciaz will have the 1.4-litre K2 petrol engine, same as the Ertiga and will produce 94bhp of power and 130Nm of peak torque. The Ciaz may get Fiat`s 1.6 litre Multi-Jet engine. We can be sure that the company will put a 1.3litre DDIS block which will churn out 89bhp of power.

On the features list expect puddle lamps, keyless entry, plush leather seats and 15 inch alloy wheels. ABS with EBD will enhance the safety of the car.

Going with typical MS nomenclature, the Ciaz will have three trim levels: L, V and Z.

Some more features of the car will be

  1. Rear Bench space in the league of Nissan Sunny/Scala.
  2. L and V variants will come with 185/60R15 spec tires
  3. Rear A/C vents
  4. Similar steering wheel that is found in the Ertiga
  5. Z trim will come with keyless Entry
  6. Electronic folding mirrors (V and Z)
  7. L spec gets steel rims, V and Z will get alloys(15 and 16 inch respectively)
  8. Z will get  195/55 R16 Tires.

The Ciaz will also be better in terms of NVH levels to the not-so-successful SX4.

The Ciaz will be accompanied by the Celerio at the Auto Expo. Maruti does have their hands full this year.
