The Indian automobile scenario is now changing. The buyers are now realizing the importance of safety features like ABS and airbags. The automobile companies are also actively adapting and offering the customers with affordable safety packages. Maruti Suzuki in a recent move towards the same has announced that it will offer optional dual airbags and ABS across all variants of the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Swift Dzire. Almost all the Maruti cars have the same badging pattern. Three trims are offered namely L,V and Z with Z being the top end and L is the starting model. These badges are followed by suffixes, Xi and Di for petrol and diesel respectively.
Currently, the ZXi and ZDi of Maruti Suzuki Swift and Swift Dzire, being the top end are offered with airbags and ABS. The new move of the automaker will offer the L’s and V’s with optional dual airbags and ABS. The package will cost Rs. 25,197 for Swift and 24,438 for swift Dzire. The cars equipped with the package will get an (O) ahead of their badge.
Commenting on the launch of the variants, R S Kalsi, executive director, marketing and sales, MSIL, said, “The Swift and DZire are two of the most popular cars in India. Both have played an instrumental role in shaping the Indian automobile industry. The cars are known for contemporary styling, superior comfort, convenience features and performance. By offering driver and co-driver airbags and anti-lock braking system (ABS) across all variants of Swift and DZire, we want to further strengthen their popularity among customers.”
This move of Maruti Suzuki can be considered a step on the path to producing cars that pass the crash norms in 2017. However, this is not the company’s first step. The newly launched Baleno and S-cross are offered with such packages and the Celerio was the first car to be offered with the safety package. Let us, hop that all the manufacturers follow the pattern which will lead us to an era where the cars are safer.
