Mercedes Benz A Class facelift gets the same engine with improved styling and new features.

Mercedes Benz A Class facelift was launched today at an event in Mumbai. The car was unveiled by Roland Foger, Managing Director and CEO Mercedes Benz India. The new A Class has got some minor styling tweaks and a some added features with the existing engine options. The A 180 Sport (petrol) will cost INR 24.95 lakhs and the A 220d (diesel) will cost INR 25.95 lakhs. Both the prices are ex-showroom Mumbai.

The exterior changes in the front include the new diamond grille which is now standard among all the variants. The new Mercedes Benz A Class gets new LED headlamps. The front bumper is also revamped. The new car now gets sliding sunroof on the top as standard. The sunroof’s tilt angle is automatically adjusted according to the speed of the car. The rear gets reworked tail lamps and a larger diffuser with integrated twin exhaust. The alloy wheels are redesigned and will be painted in black. These changes contribute to the styling updates in the new Mercedes Benz A Class facelift. A new color called the Elbaite Green will also be offered.

The interior gets a host of new features. The first update is with the seats which are now sportier to suit the character of the car. The seats will now be electronically adjustable with a memory of 3 seat setting. The main update is with the Mercedes Benz Apps on the standalone infotainment system. The apps include weather forecasting, RSS feed, Tunein radio, Mercedes-Benz Radio, HRS Hotel Search, News and Morningstar finance. These apps will be automatically updated.

The engine options will be constant. The petrol variant will be powered by 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder petrol engine that develops 122 HP @ 5000 RPM and a peak torque of 200 NM @ 1250-4000 RPM. The diesel variant will be powered by 2.2-liter, 4-cylinder, diesel engine that produces 136 HP @ 3200-4000 RPM and a peak torque of 300 NM @ 1400-3000 RPM. These motors will be mated on a 7-speed dual clutch auto box. The top speed A 200 CDI is 210 km/hr and the A 180 can do 0-100 km/hr in 8.6 seconds.

The new Mercedes Benz A Class facelift was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show earlier this year. This was the 15th product of Mercedes Benz India’s 15 product line-up to be launched this year.
