Mercedes Fanboys rejoice!! The company has finally fixed a date to launch the CLA 45 AMG in the Indian market. Mercedes CLA 45 AMG was first showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and it will arrive on the 22nd July!
The CLA 45 AMG comes with a 4 cylinder 2.0 liter heart capable of producing 360 PS of max power and 450 Nm of max torque. Couple this to an AMG Speedshift-DCT automatic gearbox with 7 speeds, which power all four wheels of the car and you rocket from 0 – 100 kmph in just 4.6 secs. The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 250 kmph.
The transmission system has three modes: C (Controlled efficiency), S (Sport) and M (Manual). Slotting the car in the efficiency mode turns ON the start-stop system (and for some reason it turns OFF the AC at traffic signals which is never good) but our favorite still remains the manual mode with the flappy paddles behind the steering wheel.
Adaptive brakes with auto-hold function, 9 airbags and a three stage ESP make the car safe to drive and grip the road. Being tuned by the AMG department, the car will get aerodynamic bumpers, AMG steering wheel, dynamic curve assist system, lots of carbon fiber body work and 18” wheels. The interiors are a standard Mercedes AMG black with red inserts and (eye-popping) red seatbelts! what were you thinking Mercedes?
Mercedes has chosen to take the CBU route for the CLA 45 AMG which means it will cost quite a bit thanks to the added taxes. Price for the car start at nearly 48,000 euro which is around INR 40 lakh, not bad looking the amount of car you are getting.
Mercedes is very serious about India as is evident with the number of launches and the efforts made to make the brand even more known yet remain premium. It has put in some serious efforts this year to regain the top-slot for luxury car maker in the country.
