Eicher- Polaris personal 4 wheeler to roll out in 2015

Eicher-Polaris will roll out a personal 4 wheeler in 2015. Earlier Polaris has tried this ATV venture on its alone but now they have joined hands with an already settled Indian firm, Eicher Motors. Eicher has a rich experience in the automotive industry through products like Royal Enfield bikes, commercial vehicles and tractors. On the other hand US-based Polaris, one of the top off-road vehicle and snowmobile makers will contribute INR 125 crores  and their vast experience over a span of three years to develop this vehicle. They are currently looking for an suitable location in India to set up the plant.

Mr Siddhartha Lal, CEO Eicher Group, has said that this would be a new personal four wheeler will and not a quadricycle but rather an all terrain vehicle between a car and a bike. This vehicle could also borrow some parts from former Polaris ATVs too. Mr Lal also said the car is touted to be a personal car, though either of the companies are not into personal car manufacture yet. Inside sources are saying it should be similar to the Bajaj RE60 in size, but will be targeted at the entry-level passenger vehicle segment, much the same way as the Tata Nano.

The Sportsman range of Polaris ATVs have engines ranging between 455cc to 850cc and can seat one or two passengers depending on the model. The Polaris range of off-road vehicles ranges between INR 2,40,000 to INR 20,00,000 and is available with Petrol, Diesel and Electric motors. So while this vehicle may have an engine in/around this range there is no news on prices yet. however this vehicle can surely open a window to a new segment and cheer up some unorthodox vehicle lovers.
