Renault India is riding high on the success of its recent launch, Renault Kwid. The car that was priced unbelievably has struck a chord among the Indian buyers and the company has received more than 50,000 bookings. The car costs between Rs 2.57 lakh and Rs 3.53 lakh ex-showroom.
Renault priced the car at an astonishingly low between Rs 2.57-3.53 lakh and offered unparalleled value for money. The company had received 25,000 bookings within a month of the launch.
The Kwid comes with an 800cc engine which will have a power output of about 57bhp. The car is very light on its feet weighing only 660 kgs. The low figures on the engine will not hamper the performance since its very nimble courtesy all its weight saving. The car has been designed in India on the CMF-A platform with 98% localization.
The Kwid stands at 680mm in length and 1580mm in width, the 2016 Renault Kwid will be the most spacious vehicle in its segment. It will also have the segment-leading ground clearance of 180mm, which is, in fact, more than several crossovers/SUVs in India. 300 litres of boot space has been made available with all passangers seated and it can be increased to 1115 litres once you flip the rear seats. The ARAI mileage on the Kwid is a healthy 25. 17 kmpl.
The Renault Kwid bookings have seen strong numbers in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and 40% of the buyers are below 28 years of age. Almost 35 percent bookings have come from the tier II and tier III cities such as Nagpur, Rajkot, Nashik, Ludhiana and Jalandhar among other towns.
Renault is going to come with a 1.0-litre petrol engine in the next few months.
