Renault India has registered a sale of 7,819 units in the month November which is 144% more than November 2014’s 3,201 units.
Renault India has survived in the Indian market with the support of its flagship, the Duster. But, the newly launched budget Kwid is the car that has led to the growth of the company. The small-car has received a booking of 70,000 units already, just after 2 months of its launch. However, the company did not mention the number of cars sold. But, we expect it to be around 5,000 units.
The huge sales of the Renault Kwid has indicated positive trend in the company’s sales in years. Renault India has registered a staggering 144% growth in sales in the month of November when compared to November 2014. The Indian division of the French automaker sold 7,819 units in the month of November this year while the sale was 3,201 units in November 2014. The Renault Kwid was expected to share the responsibility of sales with the Duster and it did it well, very well!
Mr Sumit Sawhney, Country CEO and Managing Director, Renault India Operations, said, “When we launched Renault KWID in India, we committed to launching a new era and benchmark in the Indian automotive industry. The outstanding feedback and unprecedented response to the car have proved us right. We are grateful for the confidence and trust bestowed in the Renault brand, and are working with a single-minded focus to ramp up production to meet the increasing demand for this revolutionary car. Renault KWID will continue to play a pivotal role in our expansion plans in India.”
Renault has ramped up the production of the Kwid to meet the demand. The next month, according to company plans, will see the production of 7,000 units. Renault India sold an average of 1,600 units a month before the launch of the Kwid and will now be able to sell 10,000 units a month. The huge sales of the baby Duster are the result of the car’s 98% localisation. The car is priced between 2.57 lakhs and 3.53 lakhs as a result of this high level of localisation.
