You read it first on AutoColumn! Next generation Honda Amaze will hit the Indian market in 2018. The next generation Honda Amaze will grow in terms of size, making it one of the spacious compact sedan and at par with space that Tata Zest offers. The car will be on same platform GSP2 as of current Amaze, Brio and Mobilio.
As per AutoColumn sources, the next generation Amaze will be a wider body structure but will be same in length and wheelbase. Honda India is trying to capture a wider segment with low priced cars. Expect the new generation Amaze will be very competitively priced from its counterparts. Team AutoColumn also learned that Honda is developing a new small car below Brio which will have a project name of ‘World A Entry’.
In terms of power-train Honda might introduce new 1 liter turbo petrol engine from its V-Tech family or continue with the same 1.2 liter petrol engine mated to 5 speed manual gearbox. The diesel offerings will be same 1.5 liter turbo diesel unit with 100 bhp and 25kmpl. Honda Amaze is the first car in Honda India’s offerings that got a diesel engine as an option. Honda India might introduce AMT transmission in next generation Amaze. The car is sold in Thailand, and Philippines market with the Indian market. Having more than 90% localization in India the car is priced at Rs. 4.99 lakh (ex showroom Delhi).
