Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Ltd, the Indian wing of the famous Japanese bike manufacturer, recently introduced their new 155cc motorcycle, the Suzuki Gixxer 155, in the hotly contested 150cc commuter segment of our bike market. The latest product from Suzuki India’s stable will be seen competing with some highly successful models such as the Yamaha FZ 2.0, Honda Trigger and Hero Xtreme. The new Suzuki Gixxer 155 price in India has been kept as INR 72,199 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Propelling the new motorcycle from Suzuki India is a 154.9 cc, air cooled, single cylinder motor which outputs a max power of 14 bhp and peak torque of 14 Nm. Compared to Suzuki GS150R, the other Suzuki model in the same segment, the new Gixxer is marginally more powerful. The new Suzuki motorcycle benefits from SEP (Suzuki Eco Performance), which was first seen in the country on the Let’s scooter. This technical feature enables the engine to deliver optimum performance along with highest levels of fuel efficiency. The Gixxer, unlike its cousin GS150R, doesn’t get a siz speed transmission and has to make do with a five speed unit.

It will be interesting to see if the new Suzuki Gixxer 155, which will be seen locking horns with some of the most established brands in the country today, would be able to garner a better sales response than its sibling, the GS150R. Stay tuned to AutoColumn for more details.
