Tata’s aspirational new vehicle, internally known as the Falcon 4 finally gets a name. It will be called the Bolt. Tata has not revealed what its sibling, the sub-four meter saloon (internally named the Falcon 5) will be called.
The Bolt is a very drastic upgrade to the Vista with newer body panels and a dramatic front end. The design is the work of Tata’s Indian and European R&D center working in conjunction to give the successful Vista a fresh new look. The vertical slab of lights on the rear makes way for a cleaner better looking smaller cluster. The company has also revamped the interiors of the car. Improved plastics and better seats will be the highlight of the car.
Renaming of all Tata cars will happen and it started from Sumo Grande facelift. Sumo Grande facelift is now named as Tata Movus. Similarly ‘Indica’ moniker is now going away from Tata cars and all new image of Falcon platform will boast the quality and performance. The falcon 5 car will also get bold name like ‘Bolt’ to re-position the image of Tata cars. Falcon 4 and Falcon 5 will share same interiors and it will get HMI (Human Machine Interface) to make them driver focused.
The company confirmed that Falcon 4 will have its unveil on 3rd Feb 2014, just before AutoExpo. Tata Bolt will get 1.2 litre turbocharged petrol engine and in diesel option Tata Motors will carry same 1.3 litre multijet from Fiat. The 1.2 litre motor is the first turbocharged engine developed in India and its the first in RevoTron series too. The 4 cylinder engine churns healthy 83.8 bhp and 140 Nm of torque and it is tuned for better fuel economy. The petrol variant of Falcon 5 may get a powerful tune of same 1.2 liter engine and it will be cheapest turbocharged engine in India.
