The Indian market saw a number of new launches this year and especially while the recent festive season. Cars from all the segments are launched by different automakers along with a number of new bikes from the motorcycle manufacturers. But, the list is not over yet. few more surprises are ready and can come out with a blast anytime. One of them is the very much awaited Tata Kite hatchback and compact sedan siblings. This eagerness among people went to an all time high when Tata Motors signed Lionel Messi as their Global Brand Ambassador and teased the Tata Kite in its first campaign with the Argentinian footballer, #madeofgreat, which was aired on the Indian television.
Tata motors also officially launched the sketch of the new car some time ago. We had reported the same on November 16, in this article. So, the new Tata Kite is all set to be launched in the month December 2015. Yes, next month itself. Some reports also say that the hatchback can be launched in the first week of December. However, we are confident that the car will be launched before the year ends. The new hatchback will be followed by the compact sedan sibling, the Tata Kite Compact Sedan. This compact sedan is expected to create a segment of its own like the Indigo did. The car is expected to be the cheapest among all the compact sedans currently on sale. So, it is time for the competitors to build a compact sedan based on their budget hatchbacks to compete with the new Tata Kite compact sedan.
The car as we have reported earlier the new Tata Kite hatchback will be powered by a 1.2-liter, three-cylinder, petrol engine that will produce a max power of 75 HP and a max torque of 120 NM. The new car will also be offered with a diesel 1.05-liter, three-cylinder engine that will produce 64 HP and a peak torque of 142 NM. These engines will be offered with a choice a manual as well as Automated Transmission (AMT). The car is also expected to get Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and an E-clutch that will help the drive enter the first gear without using the clutch.
The interiors will be borrowed from Zest/Bolt cousins with a 2-din audio system and a shorter diameter three-spoke steering wheel. The dashboard is all black and have elliptical AC vents. Above is a video that shows the interiors of a test car spied.
It is expected to be priced between 4-7 lakhs INR. When launched it will rival the Maruti Suzuki Celerio, WagonR, Hyundai Grande i10 and others in the segment. The new Tata Kite hatchback and the compact sedan will replace the Indica and Indigo respectively. However, Indica will still continue to perform on the commercial sales but the car will not be retailed. Below is the Tata Motors’ #madeofgreat campaign.
