Tata Kite official sketch revealed; launch on 4th December?

Tata motors have huge plans for its upcoming hatch, codenamed ‘Kite’ internally. The company will reportedly launch it under the ‘Glade’ moniker and has released the official sketch of the car.

Tata Motors put in place the largest marketing strategy in place for the Kite, signing Lionel Messi, arguably the best footballer in the world and starting an advertisement campaign called #madeofgreat. It will be the third car in the HorizoNext series following the Zest and Bolt.

Tata Kite hatchback will be powered by a three-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol engine with a maximum power of around 75 hp and a peak torque of 120 Nm. A three cylinder 1.05-litre diesel engine will have a maximum power of 64 hp and peak torque of 142 Nm. . The engines will be paired to a manual transmission and an automated manual transmission (AMT). It is also reported to get Electronic Power Steering (EPS) and an e-clutch system where the driver can slot into first gear without using the clutch.

it will feature a black and beige interior with a dash layout similar to the Bolt/Zest and will come with  2-DIN audio system. electrically adjustable ORVMs and rectangular air-con vents. It will feature a short diameter three-spoke steering wheel that will get audio/telephony controls, at least on the top variants.

The car will be priced between 3.5 lakh to 4.5 lakh and will be a shade cheaper than Bolt hatch, replacing the Indica. A lot will depend on how much value the Kite will provide for you money. The Renault Kwid is the current benchmark and is reaping the benefits. Will Tata’s be able to equal or better it?
