Tata Motors has officially revealed the photos of its upcoming budget hatchback Tata Zica. The new hatchback is scheduled to be launched on 1st December at Goa during a media drive. The new car is the talk of the town these days due to the #madeofgreat marketing campaign starring Tata Motors’ new Global Brand Ambassador, Lionel Messi. The first commercial starring the Argentinian footballer was aired on the Indian television and teased the new Tata Zica which was previously known as Kite.
The new photos revealed by Tata Motors indicates the same styling that the recent spied photos revealed. The design of the new Tata Zica is something to believe in. It has nothing to do with the age-old Tata tall boy design language. The hatchback does not look anything less than the segment ruling cars. The front of the car has the new honeycomb grille with chrome outline. The smoked headlamps are very big in size. But, are completely in accordance with the overall design language. It also has chrome outline around the fog lamps. The sides of the car, especially in the Zica’s official color looks identical to the the new generation Ford Figo.

The rear has completely new tail lamps, which are never seen on any Tata car before. The black touch-ups around the licence plate makes the car look sportier. The tailgate spoiler with black color on both the endings is something very fresh. The bulge on the tailgate also supports the sporty character. The new Tata Zica is based on a completely revamped XO platform also used for the Tata Indica. However, the platform is beefed up to improve thee drive quality.
The new car is expected to be powered by a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.05-liter diesel engine. These engines will offered with a 5-speed manual transmission or an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) unit from the ZEST/BOLT siblings or the Tata Nano AMT.

Tata Motors has still not revealed any information regarding the interiors.. However, the spy shots reveal that the Tata Zica will get a dual-tone black and beige interior similar to the Zest/Bolt siblings. The steering is expected to be the same size as on Bolt. The Top-end is expected to come with a Harman Touch screen infotainment system. Other features include ABS, EBD, Airbags and height adjustable driver seat.
It will replace the company’s most successful car, Tata Indica which will be now be reduced to a commercial offering. The Tata Zica will be followed by a compact sedan based on the hatchback. Both the Zica and the compact sedan will be manufactured at the plant in Sanand, Gujarat which currently produces the Nano. The new car is expected to be price between INR 3-5 lakhs.
