Tata Zica will be launched in Goa in the first week of December and for the first time, the car has been spotted in the production ready avatar sans any camouflage. It looks like a nice little car without any bits that remind us of the previous Indica.
Most importantly, Tata Zica looks like a premium offering from the Indian carmaker; looks fresh with a small compact design. The honeycomb grille and the large headlamps are great looking with foglamps with chrome flanges. The car snapped looks like being one of the upper trims with indicators over ORVM’s and alloy rims. The side profile is clean with one sharp line flowing from the front fender, integrating nicely into the taillight. The B-pillar has black matte finish and the taillamps are more conventional than ever before; but in a good way.
The top-end variant of Tata Kite is expected to get Harman infotainment system with a touchscreen display and steering mounted audio and call controls. The hatchback is also expected to get height-adjustable driver seat, front and rear power windows, steering mounted controls, ABS, EBD and dual airbags are expected to be seen on the Tata Zica. The Zica’s features list is also expected to include electrically adjustable ORVM’s
The Zica, which was codenamed Kite will feature an all new engine, a 1.05-litre three-cylinder common-rail diesel motor that can churn out 64.1bhp and 140Nm of torque, and an all-new 1.2-litre petrol engine. These will be equipped with a 5-speed transmission and might come with an AMT since many other competitors will be having it as an option.
The Zica will be manufactured at Tata’s plant in Sanand. A new sub-4 metre compact sedan, based on this hatchback will be launched later. It will compete in the small car market with the Maruti Celerio, Hyundai Eon, Renault Kwid.
