The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto expo and since then it has been in the limelight with a huge buzz on social media (#coolcats in town) along with roping in Bollywood actor Ranvir Sing to endorse the car. The Ciaz was finally spotted at Maruti dealerships and bookings open on September 3 with a token amount of Rs 21,000.
Adding another feature to keep the Ciaz in the limelight, Maruti claimed that the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be the most fuel-efficient diesel car in the segment, beating the diesel Honda City’s 26.0 km/l by 0.21km/l. The diesel Ciaz will have a fuel-efficiency of 26.21km/l. The diesel Ciaz will be powered by a 1.3 liter, Fiat-sourced, multi-jet diesel engine, which will produce 90 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
On the other hand the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz petrol variant will be powered by a 1.4 liter, K-series petrol engine, which produces 92.45 PS of power and 130 Nm of torque, which will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and will also be available in a 4-speed automatic transmission mode as well. The Ciaz petrol claims to give an average of 20.73km/l as compared to the Honda City’s 18 km/l.
Apart from its class leading fuel-efficiency, the Ciaz comes with a fresh design and up market features. On the exterior the Ciaz sports projector headlamps, chromed front grille, an aerodynamic side crease which defines the side profile of the Ciaz, newly designed tail lamps and 17-inch alloys on the top end variants. The interiors are not as flamboyant as other cars, but it still holds up well and features a 5-inch touchscreen infotaintainment display, Climate control, rear AC vents, cup holders and dual air-bags, which will feature in the top-end variants.
The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will be offered in 8 variants, namely: VXi/VDi, ZXi/ZDi and ZXi+/ZDi+. The Ciaz has alread gone in to production at the Manesar Plant and the Ciaz will be up against the VW Vento, Nissan Sunny, Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Fiat Linea. The competition is surely tough, but this time we hope the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will make a lasting impact in the Indian car market.
